Turkey’s export share of denim fabrics is expected to see a substantial increase in 2018 despite a decline in 2017.
In 2017, Turkey’s denim exports were US $ 368.5 million, which was a 6.4 per cent slump from what it was in 2016 (US $ 393.6 million).
In 2017, the country had exported US $ 52 million and US $ 47.4 million worth denim fabrics to Tunisia and Egypt, respectively.
Besides, Turkey’s export to Italy for the same period was US $ 40 million. Together, these three nations contributed to nearly 38 per cent of Turkey’s denim fabrics exports.
By the end of 2018, Turkey, at the current pace, is expected to achieve US $ 390 million, which will be an impressive increase of 6 per cent. With the EU and the US market becoming increasingly favourable for denim, 2018 should see Turkey easily achieving the target.
Corroborating on the same, Fuat Milap, Sales Executive, Kilim Denim, said “Kilim has been successful with European brands mainly because Europeans have good knowledge of denim fabrics and know what to buy. They have a good liking for Turkish denim.”
It is worth noting that Turkey exports denim fabrics majorly to Europe, North Africa and the Far East.
