The growing threat of Coronavirus is now forcing many textile companies in Vietnam produce antibacterial masks.
What’s noteworthy here is that most of these textile companies do not even have experience of producing antibacterial masks.
The authorities have, reportedly, announced a requirement of 10 million masks.
Dong Xuan, which has a textile unit in Hanoi, has set up an antibacterial cloth production line. It’s using advanced technology of Japan to make antibacterial fabric so as to come up with high-quality masks.
The company’s director, Tran Viet, estimated that his firm daily produces 7 to 8 tonnes of antibacterial fabric, which is good enough for Dong Xuan and its partners to produce up to 300,000 masks daily.
Another garment firm, namely TNG, in northern Thai Nguyen Province is also now into the emergency production of masks, using nano-fabric. Using raw materials, which are otherwise used to make garments, TNG hopes to soon complete production of 2 million masks.
Truong Thanh Hoai, head of the Department of Industry under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said producing 10 million antibacterial masks daily required 400 tonnes of antibacterial fabric and many enterprises were working at full capacity.
He has, however, urged the Government to issue standards for the antibacterial masks so that users can trust these masks.
