YKK Corporation has started the operation of its US $ 60 million plant in Vietnam!
The world’s largest zipper maker, in its endeavour to satisfy the growing demands for zippers, opened its 2nd plant in Ha Nam province on 1 October.
This plant will produce zippers and raw materials for the garment sector with a scale of 420 million products annually.
The zipper manufacturer intends to increase its production capacity in Vietnam by 40 per cent in the fiscal year through March 2021, as compared to 2017 fiscal year.
The new plant, built on 51,000 square metre area, is expected to reduce the delivery time to garment manufacturers in northern Vietnam.
Notably, YKK already has a plant in the southern province of Dong Nai.
Despite all challenges, foreign investment continues to pour in Vietnam’s apparel and textile sector and YKK’s new plant is another step in that direction.
Commenting on the same, Vu Duc Giang, Chairman, Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) expressed optimism that Vietnam’s garment and textile industry will continue growing and is focused at achieving US $ 200 billion by 2035.
