According to the latest data released by OTEXA, swimwear import of the country reached US $ 821.71 million during Jan.-Aug. ’21, noting 26.77 per cent Y-o-Y surge.
After topping the tally till H1 ’21, Vietnam was again surpassed by China in the first two months of Q3 ’21 – all because of the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in Vietnam during July and August, which made a dent on manufacturing activities.
China clocked US $ 240.25 million in its swimwear exports to USA during the first 8-month period of 2021 and grew by 17.30 per cent on Y-o-Y basis, while Vietnam closely followed China with US $ 237.48 million worth of swimwear shipment to USA, growing by 43.63 per cent on yearly basis.
Together, China and Vietnam contributed over 58 per cent of US swimwear imports value, up 1 per cent from what they shared (57 per cent) in Jan.-Aug. ’20 period.
Indonesia stayed on the third spot with US $ 87.46 million worth of swimwear exports to USA and it grew by an impressive 28.85 per cent on yearly note.
Cambodia revived its exports in the beginning of Q3 ’21 after declining till H1 ’21 that helped the country stay positive by 14.67 per cent to US $ 35.58 million worth of swimwear shipment to USA in the review period.
Sri Lanka remained dismal in its swimwear shipment to USA as it declined by 7.88 per cent to US $ 34.15 million and this downfall gave Bangladesh an opportunity to surpass Sri Lanka in 2021.
Bangladesh upped its swimwear shipment by 39.21 per cent to US $ 34.66 million to the US market during Jan.-Aug. ’21 period.
