Amidst rising lingerie and shapewear market in the USA, buyers have increased sourcing of these products.
In January ’22, USA imported US $ 260.13 million worth of foundation garments, noting 21.37 per cent Y-o-Y growth. Markedly, over 86 per cent of this import was contributed by top 6 destinations – all Asian (China, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Thailand).
China remained the top shipper with US $ 89.08 million worth of brassieres/foundation garment shipment to USA; however, the growth of the shipment (9.61 per cent) is just decent.
On the other hand, Vietnam (US $ 51.30 million) and Indonesia (US $ 33.29 million) seemed to be catching up fast with 28.35 per cent and 81 per cent Y-o-Y growth, respectively.
Sri Lanka too upped its brassieres/foundation garment exports to USA and clocked US $ 25.94 million in January ’22, noting 35.11 per cent yearly growth.
Bangladesh’s shipment of the foundation garments to USA saw marginal improvement from US $ 14.54 million in January ’21 to US $ 16.62 million in January ’22.
The import of foundation garments from Thailand valued US $ 9.39 million, noting 6.35 per cent Y-o-Y growth.
