
Over 20 textile companies from Vietnam are exhibiting their collections at the ongoing sixth India International Silk Fair (IISF). The three day long event that opened in new Delhi on 16th October, is being attended by various dignitaries from Vietnam like Vietnamese Ambassador to India, Pham Sanh Chau along with business representatives from provinces such as Hanoi, Tuyên Quang and Lạng Sơn.
The Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) also marked its presence at the event, which brings together 120 major Indian silk producers and 250 companies from across the globe.
Apart from the exquisite display of fabrics, accessories and silk garments, the event will also witness fashion shows, workshops, seminars and business meetings. Around 10,000 visitors are expected to attend the fair.
According to Vietnam Customs Statistics, the apparel and textile trade between Vietnam and India reached US $ 799 million during the January- August period of 2018, an impressive jump of 35 per cent from what it was during the same period in 2017.
Besides, Vietnam’s import of cotton from India was valued at US $ 343.8 million, which is a 46 per cent increase from 2017.
IISF serves an ideal opportunity for Vietnamese firms and companies to not only seek business partners but also further expand their markets.
