According to statistics of the General Department of Customs (Vietnam), the export of textiles and garments in January to mid-July ’21 reached US $ 17 billion, accounting for nearly 10 per cent of the country’s overall export values.
The country has noted an increase of 15.60 per cent on Y-o-Y basis in the mentioned period.
Of total export turnover in textile and apparel segments, textile products contributed US $ 1.30 billion, accounting for 7.60 per cent, whereas garments shared the remaining value – US $ 15.70 billion, up 33.5 per cent on Y-o-Y basis.
The top destination for Vietnam’s textile and garment products was USA that accounted for nearly 50 per cent of the country’s total export turnover – US $ 7.60 billion, up nearly 23 per cent over the same period last year.
Japan was the 2nd top export destination for Vietnam in 2021 with US $ 1.57 billion export revenues generated from this country. However, shipment to Japan declined by 4.50 per cent as the apparel market of Japan has continuously been tumbling since last one and half years.
Exports of textile and apparels to the EU market have reached US $ 1.51 billion, up 14.50 per cent as compared to the same period of 2020, accounting for 9.90 per cent of total value, while exports to South Korea hit a figure US $ 1.24 billion, up 2.70 per cent.
