Japan-based apparel chain Muji is all set to launch its first retail outlet in Ho Chi Minh City in early 2020.
According to a press release published on 21 February 2019, Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd. would first set up its subsidiary Muji Vietnam in August 2019. It will be followed by the opening of the Muji store in Spring 2020.
Ryohin Keikaku in a statement said that with a 7.1 per cent GDP growth in 2018, Vietnam remains a key market in Southeast Asia for the company.
The company added that their experience and know-how in the world market would enable in the effective running of stores that serve everyday living and increase the number of Muji fans in Vietnam.
Also, the country’s large population and fast economic growth over the recent years have been instrumental in Ryohin Keikaku’s decision to expand in Vietnam.
Muji products are among the most popular items hand-carried back into Vietnam from travellers visiting countries such as Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines.
Muji currently has 928 stores all over the globe with 454 alone in Japan.
