Prime Minister of Vietnam, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, urged the country’s garment and textile sector to work towards creating more value-added products.
While speaking at an event that was held in Hanoi to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel association (VITAS), PM also asked the industry to significantly shift from processing to production.
He said that the textile and the apparel industry has been instrumental in the growth of the country and therefore it is essential to change the production model so as to create more value-added products.
He asked the textile industry to initiate measures to enhance sustainable development in addition to building trademarks for their products.
The PM, while applauding VITAS for successfully acting as a bridge between the Government and enterprises, said that the country should try to fully exploit the benefits brought by the recent free trade agreements signed. He also presented VITAS with Government’s Emulation Flag.
