Amidst the growing US apparel market, dressing gown is one product category that has seen notable growth in 2021. The import of the dressing gown by the US buyers has reached US $ 789.57 million, noting 34.87 per cent Y-o-Y increase.
The import values have also crossed the pre-pandemic values (in 2019) when USA sourced US $ 692.33 million worth of dressing gowns.
66.60 per cent of this total value was contributed by China and Vietnam together, while other countries such as Cambodia, Turkey, Bangladesh, India and Indonesia have also grown significantly.
China shipped US $ 410.61 million worth of dressing gowns to USA in 2021, growing by 32.18 per cent on Y-o-Y basis. On the other hand, Vietnam took a marginal dip in its exports by 3 per cent on yearly basis to US $ 115.09 million.
Next in line were Cambodia, Indonesia, Turkey, Bangladesh and India with shipment value of US $ 46.55 million, US $ 39 million, US $ 38.12 million, US $ 31.94 and US $ 28.4 million, respectively.
All five countries upped their respective exports of dressing gown to USA by 24.27 per cent, 143.45 per cent, 62.47 per cent, 166.18 per cent and 44.95 per cent on Y-o-Y basis.
Amongst these destinations, the show put on by Bangladesh has been remarkable as the country’s export of dressing gown was just US $ 9.82 million at the end of 2019 that has grown massively to US $ 31.94 million in just 2 years.
