Vietnam is resorting to the green linkage for textile production in order to keep up with its international export demands for meeting product safety, human and environmental standards in supply chain.
The shift in the environmentally friendly textile production method can be attributed to the
current economic challenges, and meeting the laws governing environmentally responsible manufacturing practices in the US, EU, Japan, and South Korea.
Well-known companies are taking multiple initiatives to inculcate greener practices in their production units.
The Hansae Group (Korea), Hanoi Textile, and the Garment Joint Stock Corporation (Hanosimex) collaborated to manufacture recycled textiles in Vietnam.
Following the base of sustainable fashion, a Danish-owned Specter garment factory, situated in An Giang has incorporated the highest environmental standards in the factory with LEED gold certification for design excellence in energy and environmental management.
The said factory will use solar energy for operation and has ensured to cut down carbon emissions by around 1,600 tonnes annually.
A number of Vietnamese textile units are using green materials in their production process. While many renowned companies are operating their research and business development to ensure the production of environmental friendly fashion products.
To ensure a better sustainable future, the textile companies operating in Vietnam are required to achieve Bluesign Certification, and Nordic Swan Ecolabel among others.
