Amidst reports of declining apparel market, USA saw 4.81 per cent monthly increase in its apparel imports in May ’22 over April ’22.
On Y-o-Y basis, the growth was as huge as 38.50 per cent and the imports of apparel valued US $ 8.51 billion, as per OTEXA.
Vietnam continued trumping China for third month in a row in its apparel shipment to the USA market. The apparel imports from Vietnam valued US $ 1.62 billion (up 37 per cent Y-o-Y) in May ’22, while values of imported apparels from China were US $ 1.59 billion (up 37.40 per cent Y-o-Y).
The imports of the US from Bangladesh witnessed robust growth yet again. The country shipped US $ 815 million worth of apparels to the USA in May ’22, noting 38.60 per cent Y-o-Y growth.
India too performed well with US $ 592 million worth of apparel shipment to its largest export destination USA in May ’22, noting 51.60 per cent yearly growth; however, India saw a monthly decline of 1.80 per cent.
During Jan.-May ’22 period, cumulatively, USA’s apparel imports valued US $ 40.94 billion, noting 40.11 per cent Y-o-Y growth.
