As what one can see from US denim clothing import of July ’21, China and Vietnam have remained stagnant in their denim apparel shipment to the US market as compared to July ’20. The orders seem to be shifted to Bangladesh, Mexico and Pakistan!
According to OTEXA data, USA imported US $ 374.36 million worth of denim apparels in July ’21, noting 21.26 per cent Y-o-Y jump.
Bangladesh – the top denim apparel exporter to USA – clocked US $ 78.73 million from its shipment, growing 23.63 per cent on Y-o-Y basis in July ’21, surpassing Mexico’s figure of US $ 66.65 million that was 58.09 per cent higher than what it shipped in July ’20.
Mexico was followed by Vietnam that shipped US $ 48.69 million worth of denim clothing to USA and upped its value marginally by 0.72 per cent on Y-o-Y basis.
Pakistan witnessed massive surge of 139.65 per cent in July ’21 as compared to July ’20 and its export of denim clothing to USA reached US $ 37.96 million. Markedly, it inched closer to China’s export value of US $ 43.59 million, which plunged by over 11 per cent in July ’21.
Pakistan and Bangladesh are likely to perform positive in remaining months of 2021 as far as denim clothing export is concerned. Reason being, China has continuously been dwindling, while Vietnam hasn’t been fully operational for over a quarter now due to resurgence of COVID-19 in the country.
