After registering all time high apparel imports in March 2022, the US has witnessed a slight decline in import values in April ’22 on monthly basis.
According to the latest official data released by OTEXA, the US imported US $ 8.12 billion worth of apparels in April ’22 as compared to US $ 9.29 billion in March ’22.
Though monthly drop was there, the US continued improving its imports on yearly basis. As compared to April ’21, the increase in April ’22 was 43.20 per cent.
Vietnam, for the second consecutive month, remained top exporter to the US, beating China. The apparel imports from Vietnam valued US $ 1.56 billion in April ’22, while values of imported apparels from China were restricted to US $ 1.36 billion, up 39 per cent on yearly basis.
The imports from Bangladesh too have reduced on monthly basis but there was a robust growth on yearly note. The US apparel import from Bangladesh valued reached US $ 820.52 million in April ’22, growing by around 74 per cent on Y-o-Y basis.
India’s continued performing well as the values of shipped garments to the US reachedUS $ 602.88 million (up 63 per cent on Y-o-Y basis), crossing US $ 600 million figure for the second month in a row.
Cumulatively, the US apparel imports valued US $ 32.42 billion in Jan.-Apr. ’22 period, noting 40.55 per cent Y-o-Y growth.
