This M-o-M increase is contrary to what industry has been talking about for last two/three months – downfall in consumers’ demand due to inflation! However, the predictions are still not clear and some say this demand may not have continued in July and the first week of August, the import data of which has not yet come.

The USA has imported US $ 6.38 billion worth of cotton trousers during Jan.-May ’22 period, growing by 39.19 per cent on yearly basis. Bangladesh remained the top shipper of cotton trousers to USA as the US buyers sourced US $ 1.50 billion worth of cotton trousers from the country.

China supplies 53% of Vietnam’s raw material requirements for garment and textile in H1 ’22
China is the largest market supplying raw materials and accessories for the textile and garment industry to Vietnam with a turnover of nearly US $ 7.80 billion, up 11.70 per cent compared to the previous year.

Analysing OTEXA data, team Apparel Resources found that USA imported US $ 40.94 billion worth of apparels in January to May 2022 period, of which US $ 20.15 billion is shared by cotton apparels. The share of MMF apparels was US $ 18.89 billion – 46.14 per cent of the total import values.
