After dwindling in 2020 over 2019 in its cotton trousers imports, USA has been seeing an uptick in its imports in 2021.
As per OTEXA data, the import of cotton trousers by the USA has gone up by 30.71 per cent in Jan.-Sep. ’21 to US $ 8.75 billion.
Bangladesh continues to be the top shipper of cotton trousers to USA and the Asian country clocked US $ 1.83 billion from its export in the mentioned period, noting 23.60 per cent Y-o-Y increase.
Vietnam, on the other hand, shipped US $ 1.52 billion worth of cotton trousers to USA, increasing by 21 per cent on yearly basis.
China’s share has shrunk significantly from US $ 2.36 billion in 2019 to just US $ 1.23 billion in 2021’s first 9-month period.
Mexico (US $ 670.21 million), Pakistan (US $ 619.43 million), Cambodia (US $ 444.72 million) and Indonesia (US $ 438.35 million) too performed well and grew by 52.85 per cent, 79.54 per cent, 24.74 per cent and 24.25 per cent, respectively.
India stands at 8th position in the tally and has been catching up fast with 52 per cent yearly growth in Jan.-Sep. ’21 period to clock US $ 253.69 million from its cotton trouser shipment to USA.
