Canadian apparel imports have continued declining in July ’21, as per official data…The fall was mainly witnessed due to the fall in Chinese and Cambodian shipments.
According to data, Canada imported US $ 744.46 million worth of apparels in July ’21, falling 17.83 per cent on Y-o-Y basis.
China’s shipment tumbled by 43.60 per cent as compared to July ’20 and valued just US $ 240.13 million in July ’21. However, as compared to June ’21, the shipment values of China increased by 22.07 per cent in the July month.
On the other hand, Cambodia’s dismal performance has continued and as a result its shipment to Canada tumbled by 29.69 per cent in July ’21 over July ’20 to US $ 52.41 million.
Vietnam too remained negative on Y-o-Y note in the North American country, while upped its apparel shipment on monthly basis. Vietnam clocked US $ 100.34 million from its apparel export to Canada, noting 2.07 per cent yearly decline and 31.92 per cent monthly increase in July ’21.
It’s worth noting here that Bangladesh surpassed Vietnam in the Canada market and clocked US $ 102.25 million from its apparel shipment. The country noted growth of 19.29 per cent from July ’20 and 7.41 per cent from June ’21.
India performed positive both on M-o-M and Y-o-Y basis and grew in double digits. In July ’21, the Asian country shipped US $ 25.81 million worth of garments to Canada and noted 51.60 per cent yearly growth while tapping 35.77 per cent monthly growth.
