Canadian apparel imports have grown by 13.63 per cent in Q1 ’22 (Jan.-Mar.) to US $ 2.44 billion, as per official statistics.
Imports from China amounted to US $ 735.23 million in Q1 ’22 and upped by just 9 per cent on Y-o-Y basis. The share of China reduced to 30 per cent in Canadian apparel import values during Q1 ’22 from 31.40 per cent in Q1 ’21.
Bangladesh dominantly remained in the second place in the tally as it shipped US $ 366.61 million worth of apparels to Canada and noted yearly growth of 35.28 per cent in the review period.
Vietnam too grew decently by 14.44 per cent to US $ 293.16 million, whereas imports of Canadian buyers from Cambodia declined significantly by 14.60 per cent on Y-o-Y basis to US $ 213.65 million.
India’s growth was highest amongst top five shippers. Apparel imports from India valued US $ 94.69 million that surged by around 46.38 per cent on Y-o-Y basis.
Seeing the data, it’s safe to state that India and Bangladesh are increasing their presence in the Canadian apparel market, at least for now.
