The demand of cotton trouser in the US has come back to normalcy and, as shown in the latest OTEXA data, the import of this product has even crossed the pre-pandemic figures in the first two months of 2022.
The US has imported US $ 2.38 billion worth of cotton trousers during Jan.-Feb. ’22 period, growing 36.36 per cent on yearly basis and 6.72 per cent over the same period of 2019.
Bangladesh continues to be the top shipper of cotton trousers to USA as the US buyers sourced US $ 540.51 million worth of cotton trousers from the country, noting 34.51 per cent Y-o-Y growth.
Vietnam, with US $ 373.12 million cotton trouser shipment, stood at second sport and grew by 26.89 per cent on yearly basis in Jan.-Feb. ’22 period.
China has lost a big chunk of market share in the USA as its exports of cotton trousers have come down to just US $ 335.10 million in Jan.-Feb. ’22 from US $ 557.17 million in the corresponding period in 2019.
Pakistan (US $ 180.07 million), Mexico (US $ 152.60 million), Cambodia (US $ 136.18 million) and Indonesia (US $ 132.65 million) have also remained impressive shippers in the US market during the review period.
India continued to be on eighth position with US $ 73.94 million worth of cotton trouser exports to the USA and grew by around 42 per cent on yearly basis.
