According to the latest official data released by OTEXA and further analysed by Apparel Resources, the USA imported US $ 7.48 billion worth of apparels in February ’22 – up 38.70 per cent on Y-o-Y basis.
The US apparel market keeps rebounding as seemed in its apparel import figures that have already crossed the values recorded in pre-pandemic times.
Cumulatively in Jan.-Feb. ’22 period, the apparel imports of the US valued US $ 15.02 billion as against US $ 14.22 billion in the corresponding period of 2019.
China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, India and Indonesia continue to be top five apparel shippers to USA in the second month of 2022.
The US imports of apparels from China stood at US $ 1.68 billion, up 46.10 per cent on yearly note, while Vietnam continued impressing with US $ 1.37 billion worth of apparel shipment to USA in February ’22, noting 33.70 per cent Y-o-Y growth.
The growth of China and Vietnam might see a temporary pause from March onwards as both the countries have seen massive resurgence of COVID-19 cases in March, creating an uncertainty on business activities amidst some closures.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh remained unstoppable and the imports of US buyers from this country soared even in Feb. ’22 to US $ 688.47 million, growing by 43.20 per cent on yearly basis.
There is an interesting battle of export between India and Indonesia, wherein India has an edge over the latter…USA imported US $ 434.68 million worth of apparels from India in February ’22, noting 42 per cent on Y-o-Y basis, whereas shipment from Indonesia valued US $ 427.29 million, up 54.20 per cent over February ’21.
