Vietnam is on the rise in denim exports to its biggest market, the USA. During January to May 2018 period, Vietnam exported denim apparels to USA worth US $ 78.16 million, marking growth of 42.81 per cent over the last year.
According to the latest figures released by OTEXA and analysed by Apparel Resources, Vietnam posted surge in all 4 categories; skirts, jackets, Men & Boys (MB) jeans and Women & Girls (WG) jeans, of denim apparels.
WG jeans captured the larger chunk in the total export value with US $ 54.51 million (up 39.57 per cent) worth of exports, while MB jeans export fetched US $ 21.09 million (up 41.75 per cent).
As far as quantity of jeans are concerned, Vietnam exported 8.023 million units of jeans in the USA during the period under review noting a stellar surge of 20.30 per cent. MB jeans export was 2.076 million units, while 5.947 million units of jeans were exported to the USA market in WG category by Vietnam.
On the other hand, denim skirt exports were up 259.42 per cent to clock US $ 2.19 million. Denim jackets, however, could not see any major turnaround in the export value and was able to earn US $ 0.367 million for Vietnam in the USA market. The growth percentage was somehow impressive as jacket export got a boost of 112.37 per cent on the yearly note.
